State Unversity System Chancellor Mark Rosenberg told university presidents to prepare themselves for a 10 percent budget cut on Tuesday morning. While no final decision on the cuts were made, presidents were put on notice that such a cut could be coming.

"We have been informed that the governor and the Legislature will instruct all agencies and entities to identify 10 percent of their budgets that could be eliminated for the 2007-08 and 2008-09 fiscal years," Rosenberg said.

The Governor's Office said agencies should anticipate a minimum reduction of 4 percent in recurring general revenue fund appropriations during fiscal years 2007-08 and 2008-09.

  1. Dr. Ammons's proposed plan to be presented next Wednesday should be real interesting.

Steer the university toward financial accountability/ stability and get everybody paid, while cutting the budget by 10% two years in a row.

It looks bleaks but I think he is up to the task.

  3. I would suggest that the President send Vivian Hobbs home. This would be a step in the right direction.

  4. anon 11:28, VH is not going "home." She's a tenured professor. Unlike a whole slew of folk who were sent packing because they had no ready university options, Vivian Hobbs is an English professor and can assume her academic postion in the classroom.
