FAMU to begin offering online courses

Although, somewhat, fashionably late to the distance learning party, FAMU will begin offering a combination of undergraduate and graduate hybrid courses online this summer.

This method of course delivery will allow students with a computer and a high speed internet connection to take courses anytime and anywhere. Some of the courses available include Intro to microcomputer applications; introduction to psychology; abnormal psychology; introduction to educational technology; computer animation modeling; introduction to exceptional education; and communication techniques (graduate).

Course registration will be the same as for regular courses.

Rather than attending courses in person, teachers and students may communicate at times of their own choosing by electronic media, or through technology that allows them to communicate in real time. Across the nation, online education is rapidly increasing among mainstream universities in the United States, where 96 percent of the nation's largest universities offer some form of online courses. Even online doctoral programs have been developed at prestigious research institutions. Nearly, 3.2 million U.S. students were taking at least one online course during the fall 2005 term.

  1. Lord, have mercy. It's really about time. We're a bit late on this one, but we'll get there. God bless us, but James Ammons is slowly but sholy, getting us "there."
