Elliott to start in Jag matchup against New York Jets

With Jaguars wide receivers Cecil Shorts and Laurent Robinson sidelined by injuries, FAMU alumnus Kevin Elliott is stepping up to fill the void for the Jacksonville, Fla. franchise. The former Rattler standout will make his first NFL start the Jags take on the New York Jets today.

“My coach told me earlier this week, ‘It’s a chance in a lifetime in a lifetime full of chances,” Elliott said.

According to John Oehser, a senior writer for jaguars.com, even though Elliott “has shown flashes of being a physical, effective receiver, [offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski] and Head Coach Mike Mularkey each said this week he has struggled at times with mental errors.”

Elliott says he’s been working hard to overcome his rookie mistakes.

“During the week is the most important time to get ready for the games on Sunday,” Elliott said. “Going through the plays in your head and making the plays in practice. That’s what I’m working on, the little things. I’m excited to make plays out there.
