Romain Dallemand’s name being pushed as a possibility for FAMU presidency

Rattler Nation has learned that there are efforts underway to promote the embattled superintendent of the Bibb County (Georgia) School District as a possible FAMU president.

Romain Dallemand was appointed to lead Bibb County’s schools in 2011. A recent story by 13 WMAZ in Macon reported that two members of the Bibb Board of Education anonymously informed them that Dallemand is already looking for a buyout for the three-year employment agreement he signed on December 7, 2012.

13 WMAZ also reports that Dallemand is at the center of three lawsuits against the school district. One claims that the district wrongfully published personal information about a student on its website. A second challenges the legality of the superintendent’s new contract. The third is a whistle-blower lawsuit from the district’s former CFO. The news station reports that he claims “he was removed from his job as punishment for raising questions about a $1 million payment to a community group.”

Any attempt to place Dallemand in Lee Hall would be met with great suspicion across Rattler Country. According to a May 21, 2012 article in the Macon Telegraph, FAMU Trustee Rufus Montgomery is “a lobbyist for Bibb County schools.”

The three lawsuits are not the only controversies involving the Bibb County superintendent. Local teachers and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators have raised big concerns about Dallemand’s “Macon Miracle” plan. It calls for 300 teacher job cuts and the elimination of up to a dozen schools.

There is already a “Remove Romain Dallemand” Facebook page.

Before coming to Bibb County, Dallemand served as the superintendent of Rochester Public Schools in Minnesota. His prior jobs included stints as an assistant superintendent, director of pupil personnel, and assistant principal.

Dallemand holds degrees from Mid-America Nazarene University, Carlos Albizu University, and the University of Miami. He received his Ed.D. from Argosy University.

As much as I would love to see Dallemand out of Bibb County, I beg and plead with all of you at FAMU to protest and fight against Dallemand as your University President. Please investigate this man and you will see all of the corruption that follows him. He is a snake in the grass and will do nothing but line his own pockets with your money.
