Angela Robinson, a FAMU alumna, is one of the newest primetime stars on the Oprah Winfrey Network.

The Jacksonville native plays Veronica Harrington on the new soap opera “The Haves and the Have Nots.” Tyler Perry writes, produces, and directs the series.

According to OWN, “the show follows the complicated dynamic between the rich and powerful Cryer family and the hired help who work in their opulent Savannah, Georgia, mansion.” The Cryers struggle with internal dysfunctional that threatens to destroy their wealth and social status.

Robinson’s character, Veronica, is a friend to the Cryer family and millionaire rehab clinic owner.

“Veronica is not all that scheming, but she’s not all that likable. She has no patience, no compassion for others,” Robinson said.

Robinson brings years of acting experience to her new set at the Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta. She’s performed in numerous Broadway plays, including: The Color Purple, Wonderful Town, Play On! and Bells Are Ringing. She and her husband, Scott Whitehurst, are the co-founders of the WhiteRobin Group, which provides consulting services for young artists.

“The Haves and the Have Nots” airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. EST.
