Late last week, the advisory committee for FAMU’s head football coach search announced eight semi-finalist candidates for the job. One, Corey Fuller, now says he was not selected as a finalist. Another, Willie Simmons, might be on his way to a head coaching position at another university.

On Monday, Fuller, who is currently FAMU’s interim head football coach, send out a Twitter message stating that he was no longer under consideration for the permanent job.

“In spite of fact that I was told I would not be considered as a finalist for the head coaching job, I am firmly behind the president and leadership at FAMU that the best decisions for moving the athletics program forward is begin considered and that the president is working her plan,” he wrote.

According to website Football Scoop, Simmons, who is the offensive coordinator at Alcorn State, could soon be named the head coach of Prairie View A&M.

“Sources tell us Alcorn State offensive coordinator Willie Simmons has accepted the head coaching offer at Prairie View and will be announced tomorrow,” Football Scoop posted on Monday.
