FAMU softball takes tough loss to UF in first round of NCAA tourney

The FAMU softball team (18-38) took a tough 6-0 loss to the No. 1-seeded University of Florida (51-6) on Friday night during the opening round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Tournament in Gainesville, Fla.  

Freshman Veronica Burse threw 101 pitches for the Lady Rattlers, picking up 49 strikes and one strikeout.

UF Pitcher Aleshia Ocasio's no-hit bid was broken up in the sixth inning, when FAMU senior Amanda Weaver lashed a two-out single into right field.
