The FAMU softball team saw its 2015 season come to a close Saturday afternoon in a 7-2 loss to Florida Atlantic University in the elimination round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Softball Regionals in Gainesville.

Head Coach Veronica Wiggins reflected on the season just concluded following Saturday’s game.

“I am very proud of this team, especially the way we came back today and fought,” she said.

The Lady Rattlers earned the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference championship and an NCAA automatic bid on May 9. It was the team’s sixth automatic berth seeding since 1999.

“We accomplished a lot this season, but we can get better and want to take this team beyond the regionals and I believe with the core of players coming back, and some of the incoming recruits we have, we will be able to do just that... That will be our focus for next year,” Wiggins concluded.
