The FAMU Volleyball team will head into the 2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship Tournament at the number two seed in the Southern Division after a tough 3-0 loss to arch-rival Bethune-Cookman on Sunday in the Al Lawson Center.

The weekend match clinched the MEAC Southern Division title for Bethune-Cookman (11-15, 8-0 in MEAC), ending several streaks in the process. FAMU will head to the MEAC Tournament, Nov. 20-22 as the number two seed from the Southern Division.

FAMU (6-19, 6-2 in MEAC) had dominated the Southern Division, winning every title since the league went to the divisional format in the 1990s.

Sunday’s loss was FAMU’s first home conference loss since the early 1990s, and the first-ever in the Head Coach Tony Trifonov Era.

The MEAC volleyball tournament will take place November 20-22 at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Maryland.
