Florida A&M Head Coach Jamey Shouppe announced earlier this week that the Rattler baseball team had a strong fall semester in the classroom.

A total of 13 of the 25 scholarship baseball players posted a GPA of 3.0 or better. Senior pitchers Cameron Sims and David Ogilvie each finished the fall semester with a 4.0 GPA.

“I couldn't be more excited for how hard our guys have worked and how our coaching staff has pushed our team to be successful as student-athletes,” Shouppe said. “Athletic Director Milton Overton has stressed championship success both as athletes and students, and this is proof that our young men have bought into what we're trying to accomplish.”

The Rattlers won the 2014-2015 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship with an 8-2 win over Bethune-Cookman back in May. Shouppe said he is committed to doing everything he can to help his players continue that success as it prepares to defend its crown.

“Every opportunity our coaching staff has to be around our players is an opportunity we try to use to teach them to be successful, on the field, in the classroom and in life,” Shouppe said. “I am very proud of what our team has accomplished this fall and look forward to another exciting spring of Rattler Baseball!”
