Pereira makes All Southeast Region Team

FAMU junior softball pitcher Kenya Pereira added another honor to her trophy case Thursday, when she was named to the American Fastpitch Coaches’ Association (AFCA) All Southeast Region third team.

Pereira, the 2016 MEAC Pitcher of the Year, a first-team All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) selection and a MEAC All-Tournament team selectee, posted a14-15 record, with a 3.50 ERA and 135 strikeouts in 182 innings.

She won two games in the 2016 MEAC Tournament this year, giving her a sterling 10-1 record in the event over the past three years.

She is just the third Lady Rattler to earn All-Region honors and the first since third baseman Kimberly Browning-Hankerson in 1999, and is now eligible for the 2016 All-American team.
