Garcia, Dimitrova receive MEAC weekly volleyball honors

Florida A&M freshman Maria Yvette Garcia was selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. Her teammate Elena Dimitrova earned Setter of the Week honors.

Garcia (OH, 6-2, Fr., Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) averaged a double-double of 15.0 kills and 10.0 digs in wins over North Florida and Bethune-Cookman. She posted a team-high 19 kills in a four-set victory against Bethune-Cookman.

Dimitrova (S, 6-1, Fr., Sofia, Bulgaria) compiled 77 assists, 11 digs, four kills, one block and one service ace in wins over North Florida and Bethune-Cookman. She recorded a match-high 28 assists in a three-set victory over North Florida.
