Williams named MEAC Co-Basketball Player of the Week

Florida A&M's Desmond Williams and North Carolina Central's Patrick Cole were selected as the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) co-men's basketball players of the week, the conference announced yesterday.

Williams averaged 19 points on 64 percent shooting while also leading the MEAC in blocked shots (5) and tying for second in steals (4). Against Jacksonville last week, he shot 81 percent from the field on 9-of-11 shooting with four blocks.

Williams finished a three-game slate with 17.7 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. Williams led the Bison to a 2-1 mark as he also shot 40 percent from the field.

Cole averaged 20 points in two games this past week as the Eagles finished 1-1. He also averaged 7.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game as the Newark, N.J. came close to a second triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists at LSU.
