On Tuesday, February 28, Florida A&M University Interim President Larry Robinson joined U.S. Rep. Alfred “Al” Lawson for the U.S. president’s address before a joint session of Congress.

Lawson, a FAMU alumnus, said in a tweet that he was “proud” to have the interim president with him for the occasion.

Earlier in the day, Robinson was part of a group of historically black college and university (HBCU) presidents and chancellors who met with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. At the meeting, Trump signed an executive order entitled “White House Initiative to Promote Excellence and Innovation at Historically Black Colleges and Universities.”
