The Florida A&M University Rattlers will open play in the 2017 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Softball Tournament today, Friday against #1 University of Florida, Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, Florida.

This will be the eighth (8th) NCAA regional appearance for FAMU dating back to 1999, and the fourth NCAA set in Gainesville. Overall, this NCAA appearance marks the 11th postseason trip for FAMU since 1995 - the first three being play-in series (1995, 1997, 1998).

The game will also mark the third appearance in Gainesville this season for FAMU (23-30-1), which is coming off a victorious Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Softball Tournament win - their fourth straight, and 13th all-time since 1993.

FAMU lost its two previous games against Florida, 8-1 (Feb. 17) and 7-0 (May 7). The Rattlers are 0-2 against another Gainesville Regional contestant, FIU, who they played twice in the Florida Invitational in February, dropping both games, 12-1 and 8-0.
