The Florida A&M University volleyball team finished its season with a share of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division title. In the Southern Division, Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M both went 9-1, with each team losing to the other.

But the Wildcats claimed the division's #1 seed in the MEAC Championships by virtue of the tiebreaker, which came down to the number of total sets lost in head-to-head competition. Florida A&M, the preseason favorite in the Southern Division and winner of six straight matches, claimed the No. 2 seed.

FAMU advanced to tournament championship match with wins over Morgan State and Northern Division champion Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). It lost the title game 3-0 to three-time defending champion Howard University.

Two FAMU athletes, Maria Yvette Garcia and Nicole Abreu, were named to the 2017 MEAC Volleyball All-Tournament Team.
