Nine of the 13 schools in the State University System of Florida (SUS) have an entire page dedicated to specialty license plate sales on their .edu websites. But Florida A&M University isn’t one of them.

Florida Polytechnic University doesn’t have a specialty license plate. The University of South Florida has a site called bullsplate.com run by its Alumni Association.

Even the smallest school in the SUS, New College of Florida, has an entire page on its .edu website dedicated to its tag.

The FAMU Division of University Advancement is responsible for marketing the Rattler tag because the sales and renewals are part of the annual giving total for the school.

The FAMU Foundation reported that FAMU tags brought in $436,555 in 2016-2017. That’s the first increase since 2013-2014. FAMU received $446,395.59 from tag sales in 2013-2014. That declined to $431,615 in 2014-2015 and then down again to $429,256 in 2015-2016.

Here are the links to the other websites for SUS car tags:

Correction: The original version of this story didn't state that the Rattler tag program is mentioned in a paragraph as part of the giving options listed on this page at the FAMU Advancement .edu site.
