After splitting their Saturday double header, Florida A&M came into Sunday looking to win its second series over the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman.

The Rattlers jumped on top with a run in the first inning. With the bases loaded, Octavien Moyer hit a ground ball to short stop to drive in Dallas Oliver, giving FAMU an early 1-0 lead.

They would tack on two more runs in the top of the second inning. After a leadoff infield singe by Bret Maxwell and another single by Ty Russ, Dallas Oliver hit a two-RBI double to left center to extend the lead to 3-0.

FAMU extended its lead again in the fifth. Willis McDaniel doubled to left center to drive in Brian Davis and Jacky Miles, making it a 5-0 game in favor of the Rattlers after four and a half innings of play.

The Rattlers added another run in the top of the sixth. Brian Davis was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score Dallas Oliver, giving FAMU a 6-0 lead going into the bottom of the sixth inning.

Bethune-Cookman got on the board in the bottom of the ninth. Zach Spivey singled up the middle to drive in pinch runner Joseph Fernando and Kyle Corbin. Michael Deeb then walked with the bases loaded to score Nate Sterijevski to make it a 6-3 game.

The Wildcats’ rally fell short, as Florida A&M held on to win by a final score of 6-3. Dallas Oliver earned his third win of the season, going 7.2 innings, allowing no runs while striking out two. Dylan Carlson finished the eighth inning and tossed the final frame of the game.

With the win, the Rattlers won their second series against the Wildcats this season, and improve to 16-22 on the year (9-5 MEAC).
