We need to hear first-person perspectives on how FAMUans are being affected by these issues.

Rattler_Nation@yahoo.combig rattlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14110902774580890703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20603672.post-65707792172009430242009-04-16T21:34:00.000-04:002009-04-16T21:34:00.000-04:00Thank you for giving your perspective on this prob...Thank you for giving your perspective on this problem. I am one of the students who you speak of. I hesitate to tell my professors my situation. I do so now because I was in a situation where one of my professors saw that I was being affected by something serious and he helped me keep focused even though I really should have dropped classes. Prolonging my time in undergrad and my living situation is definitely not what I want or work towards. I honestly pray that the housing situation on campus is addressed with student success in mind. I still maintain that my classmates that had a little extra money and who lived on campus for the full duration of their stay, had the best experiences and were all the better for it. They also ALL graduated! FAMU is also better because of it. Don't trust my word, just pollng my friends who give back, they ALL LIVED on campus and was active in the university community. I already have mastered how to survive poor, I need to complete my studies and move on with graduate school. Pray for me and the scores in like situations. Many of them are putting themselves through school and are unable, as Ammons points out in the article, to call home for additional funds. Lack of funds, even when the students receive financial aid, causes many students to become discouraged and some simply get weary of the struggle and simply give up altogether or enroll in a college nearer their home base if, in fact, they are even able to do that.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
