FAMU settles with faculty

It seems that during the 2004-2005 tenure approval process, 30 or more FAMU faculty members did not receive the promotional pay raises they earned. As a result the UFF filed a grievance and were prepared to file a full scale lawsuit on behalf of the faculty members who were promoted and promised raises nearly a year ago.

Three weeks ago, to head off another series of lawsuits, Castell has agreed to pay these faculty members their back pay with interest. Although the University has agreed to do the right thing, these faculty members have still not been paid yet.

We'll keep you posted on whether or not the union is forced to proceed with its lawsuit on behalf of these employees.
