University spokewoman LaNedra Carroll said,"there were mechanical failures at the FAMU substation, which is where the city provides our power. The City of Tallahassee and Metro Electrical Services have been in a continuous process of upgrading campus power."
This would suggest that the power outtages were not the result of unpaid bills. However, a couple of calls to the city's utility office revealed that FAMU is SEVERAL months behind on its bill. Wether or not this is unusual we don't know.
Thanks for straighting this out. And being big enough to update this.
