Johnson at UNT's endowment is only $53M and the research funding is $21.3M. FAMU's endowment is twice that as well as sponsored research's budget.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about Johnson's endowment. You should be concerned with Thelma Thompson endowment, less than $4M, she'll be just like Castell unable to find the right kind of folks to manage our portfolio, because she ain't never seen or heard of that much money in a little ole HBCU. At the same time, we will continue to loose $3M a quarter.
ReplyDeleteWe can't afford anymore on the job training type of folks. I agree with President Williams statement in today's Tallahassee Democrat -- Williams said, “I don't think they are as qualified to lead FAMU into this next era. Right now is not the time for someone to come along that needs on-the-job training about the culture of Florida and higher education in Florida.”
James Ammons is doing it big in terms of research. It's the same thing that happened at FAMU under Fred Humphries. Even though we are a small institution and underfunded by the state, we rose to #3 among public universities in sponsored research.
ReplyDeleteWe need a president who understands that research is the key to taking our university to the top! Ammons has proved he understands this better than either one of the other finalists.
Rise UP You Mighty Rattlers! Get mad as hell and don't take it anymore. Get on the A-Train! It's moving out of the station and picking up steam. It's on the right track. Get on board, lil' children, Get on board! Get on the A-Train!!!
ReplyDeleteMalcolm X once said, "No Sell Out!"
ReplyDeleteFor a university of 33,000 students, I would've expected more research (funding) dollars; a much larger endowment; and a much much larger operating budget. Their budget is is smaller than FAMU's operating budget under Ammons during his tenure at FAMU.
ReplyDeleteI am still not impressed with either of these candidates.
Ammons is still my number one pick.
