Target Stores are recognizing the value of the "Rattler dollar" by reaching out to incoming freshmen students and their families.
Target contracted with returning FAMU students to serve as the store's "Street Team". FAMU upperclassmen were decked out in red shirts with the words "Happy Together" on the front and the Target logo. Target offered freshman a private tour of the Apalachee Parkway store and provided bus service from the campus.
"This is a wonderful way for us to reach out to new customers," said the store manager. "Students moving into new dorms need just about everything to make their rooms feel like home, and we're here to help."

I knew there was a reason i preferred Target over WM, a store I've only visited twice in my life. Target understands the value of FAMU -- pun intended -- and wants to keep those $$ rolling in. What better way than to do a PR campaign on the premise of welcoming students by giving a "tour" of a store we're all so familiar with and have been spending our $$ in like, forever? Smart targeting, for sure. Now, WM, who really gets plenty of our students' parents' $$ and students' financial aid $$ will promote a similar campaign for the almighty $$. Good old fashion Business 101: target your audience and then develop a plan.
ReplyDeleteI sure hope Target is putting a little donation money into the Foundation for advertising on our campus.
ReplyDeleteYeah they dropped some cash on students.
ReplyDeleteEveryone get their hands out...YT is passing by...maybe he can spare some change
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a smart move on Target's part ...
ReplyDeleteTo reel them all in the moment they arrive to town, and KEEP them engaged until they leave ... and go on to shop at Target for life!
Just hope the new Admins at the School have also negotiated some sort of substantial "financial reciprocation" from Target - by way of direct dollars, as well as internships and campus sponsorships.
"Let's make this one into a mutual TWO-way benefit!" ... And quit continuing to simply keep giving our money away ... with nothing expected - or to show for it all - in return.
Wow...I hope more business reach out to FAMU students. We often times get over looked for those folks down the hill...
