9-3 Rattlers won't be going to the playoffs

Coach Joe Taylor, and his Rattlers, knew that they stood an outside chance of making the NCAA FCS (football championship subdivision) playoffs with a 9-3 record, and would need a little help as the second place team in the MEAC. That help didn't come tonight as the tournament brackets were announced on ESPNU.

No one knows for sure what happened, but prognosticators suspect that the inclusion of the University of Maine Bears (8-4), knocked FAMU out.

Each of the Rattlers three loses came at the hands of conference teams -- (20-26) Del State, (21-28) SCSU, and (10-13) Morgan. Had the Rattler won just one of those close games the might have gone from being a playoff also ran to a playoff participant. Never-the-less, nine victories and three losses, sure beats the hell out of three wins and eight losses.

  5. It should be clear that this coaching staff is about the business of some serious football.

  6. The MEAC isn't strong enough to get more than 1 team. The Rattlers had a great season though. I am sure next year will be even better.

  8. I second (LOL), naw what we need to focus on is our team and not the conference that we are in. If the team continues to handle its busniess, it want matter how many teams the MEAC sends to the playoffs as long as we are one. The days of two and possibly three teams returning to the playoffs rest on how well SCSU plays this weekend. If they go deep and if they are good next year and we are to games better than we were this year then we should have no problem getting two or three teams in the playoffs. If one conference can get four teams in, surley the MEAC and get our top two in; but that is all predicated on how well SCSU preforms this weekend. So from that prospectus.....GOOOOOOO DOOOOGGGSSS!!!!
