Ralph Jean-Paul, FAMU Marching 100 Band President, has been selected for a summer internship with the Fox Music Experience in Los Angeles, Calif.

Jean-Paul is a senior music education major from Miami, Fla.

“When I was told that I got the internship, it was almost unreal,” said Jean Paul. “I’ve had plenty accomplishments dealing with music, but nothing like this.”

The Fox Music Experience is a music internship/immersion program that works in conjunction with the Honda Battle of the Bands to help expose HBCU student musicians to the broader world of music and entertainment.

“This unique experience is being offered to only two students from two of the Honda Battle of the Bands Invitational Showcase bands,” said Barbara Ponce, manager of the American Honda Motor Company.

Launched last year, the program offers student musicians the opportunity to spend a few weeks in the summer working on the Twentieth Century Fox studio lot learning film and television music production first hand.

  1. Nice. And congrats to the brother. The Tallahassee Democrat carried this article about two ago.

  2. And, RN carried the broke the news about the SBI dean about 3 days b4 the Democrat. So what's your point?

  3. 3:02 PM, i think poster 1:48 PM just casually mentioned it, is all. actually, the Tallahassee Democrat "had" the news before RN "carried the broke the news," as you've written it, but the newsp. simply published it when it did. The newsp. has a higher ed. reporter (if, by chance, you did not know this).

ps did the Democrat carry or break the news? which is it?

  5. First, congratulations to Ralph. Well deserved. A great musician and a great leader. You make both your family and university proud. There are FAMUans in the LA area. If you get a chance (but I know FOX will have you extremely busy), see if you can connect. Seize this opportunity to make lifelong connections, both professional and personal. There are also former 100 members in the LA area too.

Folks, sometimes good news bears repeating. It can help ensure that the good word is spread around.

In the greater scheme of things, so what if it was said before? I don't go to the Dixiecrat very often. Thank you for letting us know it was there earlier. If you read it before, just don't read it again, or take the time and energy to take the joy out of the news.

This blog isn't a newswire service, to see who can get the news out first. If it happens, great, if it does not, well, it happens.

    Just my two cents.

Sorry for the moderate diatribe. But as said earlier, well deserved, Ralph!!!

    It's all about perspective.

  7. Somebody must have forgotten to inform this young man that he is a "2." Dang! When I come back I wanna be a 2.

  8. Anyone with half a brain knows that the Tallahassee Democrat could care less about FAMU. Their coverage of FAMU is "piss poor" to say the least. I rely on RN for dependable FAMU news. Thank you RN for telling it like it is and for telling what other media outlets don't want us to know.

    RN, RN, RN, RN, RNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!

  9. 4:56 pm, no one said anything about the tallahassee democrat "caring" about FAMU. and anyone with half a brain and the poorest eyesight can read that there's nothing here on this blog about whether or not the newspaper cares about famu.
