The graduating students slated to hear former U.S. President Bill Clinton at their commencement might have to scale back their list of ceremony invitations.Due to the huge expected turnout, each graduate attending the 9 a.m., Sunday May 3rd ceremony will be limited to ten tickets for family and friends.
“Our first priority is our graduates,” said Henry Kirby, chair of the commencement committee and dean of students. “We want to ensure that members of their family have an opportunity to be seated. We have received an overwhelming number of calls from the general public who want to attend the 9 a.m. ceremony. We believe that we have developed a solid plan that will provide an opportunity for many to have access.”
The FAMU Schools and Colleges graduating at the 9 a.m. session include: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Law, the School of Architecture and Environmental Sciences Institute.
Participating faculty members can pick up one ticket each at the provost’s office. A limited amount of tickets are available for the general public on a first-come, first-served basis. These tickets will be available at the FAMU Office of Communications
Tickets will not be required for the afternoon sessions.
The speaker for the 2 p.m. commencement ceremony will be U.S. Congressman Kendrick Meek and the 6 p.m. speaker will be CNN Anchor/Special Correspondent Soledad O’Brien.

First of all, let's face it...it has only been about a week and a half or maybe even two since Clinton actually confirmed to speak. Relatives and friends have made arrangements MONTHS in advance. Trust me...the "general public" had no intentions of attending commencement ceremonies until he was confirmed as speaker! The focus have been taken completely off "the student" and a political mess has occurred...that's f'd up! All who are interested in attending outside of family and other friends is on their own or just "assed" out. So, you're telling me that nearly 10,000 seats in the new teaching gym will be completely filled...then so be it...first come, first serve...FAMU does some stupid ish sometimes...and this is one of them! YES THE GRADUATES AND THEIR FAMILY AND FRIENDS HAVE BEEN CHEATED!
