Head Coach Joe Taylor liked what he saw from his new starting quarterback during the Rattlers’ 34-7 win over Delaware State.

"Damien (Fleming) played great in his first collegiate start for us. This win is the first of many to come," Head Coach Joe Taylor said.

Fleming threw for 275 yards and completed 14-of-29 passes with one passing TD and one rushing TD. His performance landed him the Most Valuable Player title for yesterday’s Prince Hall Shriners Diabetes Classic.

The FAMU defense was also solid through the entire evening. Coordinator Earl Holmes’ squad forced a total of four turnovers by nabbing three interceptions and snatching one fumble recovery. In the five games the Rattlers have played this season, the defense has grabbed 12 interceptions, already surpassing last year's total of 11.

"Holmes had a great game plan for our young men today,” Taylor said. “We were already playing good against the run, but today, we played good against the pass as well.”
