Late last week, FAMU Head Football Coach Earl Holmes signaled his intention to take the program in a different direct by declining to renew the contracts of two hold-overs from the coaching staff of his predecessor, Joe Taylor.
"On Friday, I released Receivers Coach Steven Jerry and Defensive Backs Coach Jimmy Tyson," Holmes said. "I would like to thank Coach Jerry and Coach Tyson for their dedicated service to the Rattler football team
over the past four years. Their professionalism during this transition
period has been stellar, assisting with the recruiting of a strong 2013
class, as well as maintaining day-to-day operations during my transition
to head coach. I wish them well in their future endeavors."
Jerry (pictured) coached at the College of William & Mary, the University of Central Florida, Sienna College, and the University of North Carolina. Tyson previously served as FAMU's special teams coordinator and the defensive backs coach for the FAMU Developmental Research School.
