At the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 4x100m
championship meet, the Lady Rattlers placed 12th in the country. They picked up
additional bragging rights by edging out their conference rivals on the
University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) squad. UMES narrowly defeated FAMU
for the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) 4x100m crown.
Head Coach Darlene Moore will return with very experienced team
next season. Jones is the only student scheduled to graduate.
“This is my first time making it to the big dance during my
four year career at FAMU. It was very
fulfilling for me career-wise,” Moore said. “Although my main objective is to
win a MEAC Championship as well, it is always a tremendous feat for your
athletes to go to the NCAA and compete on the national stage…It was really a
wonderful track experience for all of us and we’re looking forward to making it
back next year.”
