The FAMU volleyball team (10-6, 6-0) won its eighth straight
game by blanking conference rival South Carolina State, 3-0 (25-11, 25-21,
25-15). With the win, the Lady Rattlers remain undefeated in Mid-Eastern Athletic
Conference play.
FAMU was paced by Katherine Huanec, who recorded a match
high 15 kills. She was followed by both Ginna Lopez-Chavez and Yeisha Arcia,
who finished the contest with eight kills each. Diana Gonzales led the Lady
Rattlers in assists while Joanie Del Castillo led FAMU in digs with 15.
Earlier this year, MEAC head volleyball coaches and sports
information directors voted the Lady Rattlers to finish on top of the MEAC Southern Division.
If the Lady Rattlers continue on their present course they are expected to battle either Hampton University or the University Maryland Eastern Shore,
the defending champions, for the MEAC Conference Crown.
