Despite a valiant effort, the FAMU Rattlers came up short in
their efforts to be back-to-back homecoming spoilers this afternoon at South
Carolina State University. On the Rattlers final drive of the game, the SCSU
defense forced a turnover preserve a 25-21 victor over the Rattlers.
With the loss, the Rattlers fell to 3-7 on the season (2-4
MEAC), while S.C. State improved to 7-3 on the season, 5-1 in the MEAC.
This was SC State's 10th win against the Rattlers in the
last 11 meetings.
SC State held the Rattlers to just 50 yards rushing and 107
yards passing and collected five sacks and two turnovers.
FAMU lost starting quarterback Damien Fleming in the first
half with an ankle injury after he was 4-7 for 54 yards. He was replaced by
Carson Royal, who finished 7-18 for 53 yards, but was sacked three times.
