Yesterday, the Nomination and Governance Committee of the
Florida Board of Governors (BOG) recommended that T. Nicole Washington receive
an appointment to the FAMU Board of Trustees. The BOG made the
selection official today.
Washington will fill the seat formerly held by Marjorie
Turnbull, who left earlier this year after her term expired. Her appointment
will begin today and continue through 2020 if she is confirmed by the Florida
Senate.
Washington is a self-employed educational consultant who
lives in South Florida. She formerly served as an analyst in Gov. Rick Scott’s Office
of Policy and Budget and then went on to work as associate director of
Governmental Relations for the BOG. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from
Princeton University and a master of arts degree from Teachers College of
Columbia University.
