Ajax Building Corporation recently donated $10,000 to Florida A&M University in support of renovations for the baseball clubhouse. Ted Parker, Ajax director of community outreach, presented Head Coach Jamey Shouppe with the check in Moore-Kittles Baseball Complex.
Shouppe led an effort to raise money to build a baseball clubhouse, which opened in January 2016. The project had a price tag of about $30,000 and its donors included the 220 Quarterback Club, which gave $10,000.
The Hill-Brinson Clubhouse consists of portable units that were brought to Moore-Kittles Field and renovated.
Assistant Baseball Coach Bryan Henry told The FAMUan that the new clubhouse is a big help for the student-athletes.
“For the past several years they’ve had to change in their cars or apartments; thankfully the university had it for us,” Henry told the newspaper in 2016.
That same article said that Shouppe isn’t done working to improve the team’s facilities. It reported: “Now the team is focusing on raising money to get this 3300 Sq. Ft. space converted into a locker room, coaches office, booster lounge, player lounge and training room.”
The $10,000 contribution from Ajax will help the program move closer to that goal.
