Cori Bostic, a student in Florida A&M University School of Journalism and Graphic Communication, has made history as the first-ever woman drum major in the Marching “100.” Director of Bands Shelby Chipman made the announcement earlier this week.

“Congratulations Cori Bostic!” FAMU President Larry Robinson tweeted on July 31st. “You’re marching into Rattler history!”

The new drum major graduated from Southwest DeKalb High School in Atlanta, Georgia. She plays the piccolo in the marching and symphonic bands. Both of her parents were members of the Marching “100.”

Bostic, an honors broadcast journalism student, is a campus radio personality on the student-run 90.5 FM and a reporter for the The FAMUan, the university’s student newspaper. She previously played basketball for FAMU and was honored as a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) All-Academic Team. She is also a trained lifeguard.
