Over 10,000 students from around the nation, this year, applied for admission to Florida A&M University. Unfortunately, over 4,000 of those students failed to meet the university’s minimum admissions standards.
“That means we have a lot of work to do,” said University President Larry Robinson. “That’s where the opportunity is, we have to find a way to work with these prospective students early on to ensure that they are college ready when they come out of high school. We have a responsibility to those applicants that we had to redirect to community colleges, and other places, to lift them up and ensure that they have an opportunity to come to FAMU and take advantage of all that we have to offer.”
FAMU's preliminary for fall 2018 enrollment is 10,053 students, Robinson told the Florida Board of Governors last week. By 2020-21, FAMU's enrollment is expected to reach 11,043 students.
