Muscle Milk, Pepsi, Athletics & More!

FAMU athletics is broken. FAMU is broken. And, Larry Robinson doesn’t have a clue how to fix either.

Here’s why we say that.  In mid-February, FAMU head football coach Willie Simmons went public about the football teams’ nutritional woes and lack of access to the basics such as Muscle Milk.

Muscle Milk, a sports nutrition drink that promotes exercise recovery, provides sustained energy and helps build lean muscle, since 2008 has been exclusively distributed by PepsiCo.  In fact, PepsiCo bought Muscle Milk in February of this year, making it a wholly owned subsidiary of the brand.

FAMU has been an exclusively Pepsi campus since November 2015, after ending an 18-year relationship with Coca-Cola.  Pepsi acquired the exclusive pouring rights for FAMU after entering into a multi-million dollar partnership with the university.

In fact you cannot buy a Coke anywhere on the FAMU campus except in the bookstore, which is operated under separate contract by Barnes & Noble.

One of the stated priorities FAMU said it was looking for in a partner when it began negotiating with Pepsi as its cold beverage vendor in 2015 was athletic sponsorships, meeting athletic training needs, and athletic advertisement dollars.

Does meeting the sports nutrition needs of the football team qualify under training needs? Did we even approach our partner Pepsi?

Let's back up and look at this whole picture again.  FAMU already has a multi-million dollar partnership with Pepsi, owner of Muscle Milk, and the football team can't even get a friggin Muscle Milk machine in the fieldhouse?  GTFOH!!!

Fire Larry Robinson and fire the entire athletic administration!
