This past Sunday, August 25, the FAMU Marching 100 went live on facebook to do a tribute concert on what would have been the 100th birthday of the Legendary William P. Foster, Director of Bands from 1946-1998.

Under Foster's leadership the FAMU Marching 100 gained national, and international, recognition and were widely credited with creating more than 30 innovative techniques in use by high and collegiate bands across the USA.

Pre-drill season cut short
Though the band had its fall band camp cut short by two weeks because of the renovations of campus residence halls, current Director Shelby Chipman had them sounding good during their first public appearance this year during the more than an hour long facebook live broadcast.  The band's first performance will be this Sunday, September 1st at the National Battle of the Bands in Houston, Texas, were they will face off against marching bands from Texas Southern, Prairie View A&M, Southern, Tennessee State and others.

In this video the band performs Marche Brillante, which was written and published by Foster in 1981.
