FAMU celebrates 132nd founders day

Today, FAMU turned 132 years old, and last night invited the community to celebrate its Founders' Day with a birthday block party and fireworks display at 11 p.m.- midnight.  

The celebration continues this morning with a wreath laying at 10:10 a.m on the University Quadrangle.

What is now FAMU was founded on October 3, 1887 with two instructors and 15 students.  Today, the University is a community of scholars with more than 10,000 students from across the USA and representing more than 70 countries from around the globe.  The University offers more than 54 bachelors degrees, 29 masters, three professional degrees and 12 doctoral degrees.

FAMU is ranked by US News and World Report as the 254th best National University in the country, the highest ranking of any public HBCU.  FAMU came in behind Howard University which ranked 104th.
