FAMU journalism grad Tia Mitchell, Atlanta Journal Constitution Washington Bureau Chief, interviewed former Vice President and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, along with CBS news reporter Erroll Barnett and Alfredo Corchado at virtual convention of the National Association of Black Journalist and National Association of Hispanic Journalist.

The interview made national news, after Biden got "sideways" with with Barnett after he asked Biden wether or not he took a cognitive test and Biden shot back by asking the reporter wether or not he was a "junkie"?

“I am very willing to let the American public judge my physical, as well as my mental fitness, and to make a judgment about who I am,” Biden said.

During the 45-minute conversation, Biden answered questions about the U.S. response to the COVID-19 pandemic, criminal justice and immigration laws.

Mitchell, a veteran journalist, has had a front row seat to history since leaving FAMU.  She has served as a Florida Capitol Reporter for the Tampa Bay Times, Florida Capitol Bureau Chief for the Florida Times Union.

Most recently, she provided lead coverage on the death of former Georgia Congressman John Lewis
