FAMU Board of Trustee members decided to reelect Board Chair Kelvin Lawson to a third term as chairman. Lawson’s reelection didn’t come without some maneuvering, his term on the board ended in January of this year, but he has continued to serve on the board because the Governor has not chosen to fill his seat. And, because Lawson served two consecutive terms as chair, board rules required him to receive a “super majority”, two-third of the votes. On the first ballot Lawson, bested challenger Trustee Kristen Harper 11-2.
Current Trustee Vice Chair Kim Moore, was reelected on a 7-6 vote, beating Trustee Harper.
It was the general feeling of the trustees that Board’s leadership has been function well and that no changes were needed.
