FAMU ranked No. 1 among Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for health sciences majors, according to Bestcolleges.com.
The top six are FAMU, Howard University, Spelman College, Oakwood University, Tuskegee University and Lincoln University.
Best Colleges defines a health science degree as one that prepares graduates for a variety of careers in healthcare and related fields, such as public health, healthcare management, and medical research. Health science careers include the MD degree, physician’s assistant, nurse practitioner, or nurse, registered dietitian, or health educator, physical or occupational therapist, and pharmacy sales representative or patient care advocate programs.
FAMU offers health science undergraduate and graduate degrees in the School of Nursing, School of Allied Health Sciences, the College of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences, Institute of Public Health, and the College of Science and Technology.
