FAMU's Moussa and Major are up for national player of the year awards

FAMU quarterback 
Jeremy Moussa  and lineback Isaiah Major  are finalist for the FCS National Player of the Year awards for offense and defense.

Moussa is one of thirty finalist for the Walter Payton Award Offensive Player of the Year Award, while Major is one of thirty finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award Defensive Player of the Year Award.

"Jeremy has been instrumental in the success of our program the past two seasons," said Head Coach Willie Simmons. "His leadership, his intellect, work ethic, and overall desire to be great have made him one of the best quarterbacks in the country."
 
Moussa finished the season nationally ranked in yards per completion (19th), passing yards per game (20th), passing yards (27th), and passing touchdowns (29th).
 
Major is a key component of the Rattlers’ “Dark Cloud Defense”.  He is ranked 23rd in the nation in solo tackles per game (5), 39th in total tackles per game (8.5), and 57th in tackles for loss per game (1.05).  Additionally, he has garnered 94 total tackles, 55 solo tackles, and 11.5 tackles for loss.  
 
"Isaiah is continuing the tradition of standout defensive players here at FAMU, following in the footsteps of guys like current NFL players Markquese Bell and Isaiah Land," said Simmons. "His relentless motor, tenacity, instincts, and overall playmaking ability make him one of the nation's best defensive players!"
