In a commanding performance, freshman pitcher Zoryana Hughes led the FAMU Rattler softball team to a 5-2 victory over the Mercer Bears, Wednesday at the Veronica Wiggins Softball Complex, showcasing her dominance on the mound.

Hughes struck out 10 Mercer hitters over 6.2 innings of work, allowing just one run on five hits and two walks effectively stifling the Bears' offense securing a crucial win for FAMU.
 
The Rattlers' offense contributed significantly to the triumph, with junior Brianna Duggins leading the charge. Duggins went 1-for-2 at the plate, adding a walk and driving in two runs to bolster the Rattlers' offensive efforts. Junior Kiauna Watson delivered an impressive performance as well, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, while junior Kayla Alexandre contributed with a 1-for-3 performance and an RBI.
 
The victory helped the Rattlers improve to 4-13 on the season. With Hughes' dominant pitching and the team's strong offensive showing, the Rattlers showcased their potential to compete at a high level in their as they approach conference play.
