FAMU will hold its fall commencement ceremony on tomorrow evening at 6pm. in the Al Lawson Center, where more than 650 degrees are set to be conferred. The event will feature remarks from Kristen Harper, former chairwoman of the FAMU Board of Trustees.
The ceremony celebrates graduates across all disciplines including business, education, the arts, and STEM fields. University administrators have emphasized the significance of this milestone for students who have navigated both academic rigor and a period of notable change within the institution.
Harper, and former FAMU SGA President, is the founder and CEO of Driven to Succeed LLC, an award-winning market research and consulting firm. A trailblazer in the corporate world, she rose from intern to Global Vice President at a Fortune 15 company before founding her own firm, which serves clients across industries including healthcare, fintech, and consumer goods. She led the Board of Trustees from 2023 to 2025, is expected to speak on themes of resilience, leadership, and civic responsibility. Her tenure included steering the university through strategic planning efforts and the presidential search.
"This is a moment of great pride and promise for our graduates, their families, and the entire FAMU community," said President Marva Johnson. "We honor their dedication and look toward the future they will shape.”
Doors to the Lawson Center will open at 4:30 p.m. for guests, a clear bag policy will be in place. The ceremony will be livestreamed for those unable to attend in person.
