Second of an, occaasional, series of random photos of our beautiful campus. Background: The Carnegie Library at FAMU was constructed in 1906 at a cost of $10,000. The building was made possible by a grant from philanthropist Andrew W. Carnegie. Carnegie constructed the library at FAMU, because at the time their was no library in Tallahassee that allowed Blacks. FAMU's Carnegie Library is one of 10 Carnegie Libraries located in Florida. There are 1,679 such libraries throughout the USA. The classical revival style building now houses the FAMU Black Archives Research Center and Musuem and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
