Getting on the bus may not be so easy for FAMU students as the contract to decide the fate of the fare-free zone that allows students to ride the bus around town by showing a student ID comes to an end. The university pays the city a reduced rate per ride for students who use the bus. This money comes from a $50 transportation fee charged to each student.
The contract ends Monday , and university officials say they hope to reach a compromise with StarMetro (formerly Taltran)by then.
