FAMU football coach Rubin Carter continues to fan out across the state to meet with alumni and friends, traveling to Miami on June 9th to greet alumni at 5:30 p.m. at the Don Shula Hotel and Golf Resort, 6842 Main Street, Miami Lakes. This time Coach Carter will be joined by athletic director Nelson Townsend.
The gathering is a part of the Miami-Dade FAMU NAA chapter's membership drive and fundraising effort.
Carter and Townsend are expected to talk about their efforts to rebuild the Rattler athletic and football programs.
Marching 100 staff headline latest inductees into Sports Hall of Fame
Julian White, Shaylor James, Lindsey Sarjent, and the late Charles S. Bing, along with former football greats Curtis Taylor, Oteman Sampson, Frank Marion, and John Hamilton will be inducted into the FAMU Sports Hall of Fame on October 13th. They will be enshired along with Softball coach Vernoica Wiggins to make up the HOF's 2006 Class.
FAMU finishes 2nd in MEAC All-Sports Awards
Norfolk State University and Hampton University captured the 2005-06 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men's and Women's All-Sports Awards it was announced Wednesday by the league office, with Florida A&M the runnerup in both categories.
Florida A&M last won a men's all sports award in 2001-02 and won the last of nine (9) straight women's all-sports awards in 2000-01.
