Gallaudet Protest Could Be Model for FAMU

Perhaps you've heard about this, the newly chosen president of Gallaudet University, the nation's only liberal arts college for the deaf, received a no-confidence vote from faculty yesterday. The vote, which passed 93-43, is nonbinding. The no-confidence vote was taken even before the new president, who was selected by the board of trustees last week and is scheduled to take office next January.
Disappointed about the selection of the school's provost as president, about 100 students, alumni, and faculty have camped out at a tent city in a weeklong protest outside the gates of the Gallaudet campus.
The demonstrators have demanded that the trustees reopen the selection process, with some complaining that current President King I. Jordan had undue influence over the appointment of the school's provost as President-elect. Sound familiar?

Good point. FAMUans need to be thinking NOW about how they will respond to unqualified presidential candidates. We must be proactive rather than reactive this time. We can't sit idlely while the BOT appoints another Fred Gainous or Castell Bryant.
ReplyDeleteHave faith the presidential search process my arse. Rosey Wilson needs to feed his propaganda to some other clueless audience. The sad thing is, there are many gullible FAMUans who accept his word as the gospel.
ReplyDeleteIt's time for everyone to be mad as hell about what's happening to the presidential search process and be ready to make some noise to prevent another sham from taking place!
With all of this said, who's willing to stick their head out there to get it knocked off.
ReplyDeleteAlumni, students, faculty, staff? Any person brave enough will be prosecuted by all of the above.
They (Corbin & Co.) know how to divide and conquer and keep the masses under control.
