Three Engineering Faculty Call it Quits

Three FAMU College of Engineering professors have called its quits, citing their frustration with the University. The three professors are from the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Departments. One of the professors, who is joining the faculty of Virginia Tech this fall, was disappointed that FAMU missed paying him twice in one semester. The other two professors had similar experiences as well as had their employment contracts presented inordinately late. The professors said they didn't sign employment contracts with FAMU until August and didn't get paid until October, despite being assured by FAMU that they would be paid on time.

Thought we'd share a photo of some of the pregame hype from the NBA Eastern Conference Finals Game 5 in Auburn Hill, MI this past Wednesday. Unfortunately, Miami lost that game and Shaq got packed all the way down to the ground. Fortunately, Miami rebounded and put the Pistons away on Friday.

  1. FAMU currently controls the Joint Engineering School's budget. If Bryant is managing that budget as poorly as she is managing the rest of the school, it's a small wonder that faculty are saying "enough is enough."

  2. Word is several other people got the pink slip in Pharmacy, Allied Health, and Nursing.

  3. Apparently, Castell Bryant's one and only administrative skill is giving people the boot. And half the time, she cannot even do that in a legally competent fashion (ex: the lawsuits/administrative challenges from Billy Joe, Phyllis Gray-Ray, Percy Luney, and terminated UFF members).

After she was done firing officials from the Humphries/Gainous eras, she started firing HER OWN people (Ken Tague, Rosalind Dunlap, and soon Debra Austin).

Now, she's making the faculty bear the cost of her own failure to recruit students. Instead of just removing as many people as possible, what about trying to build up our university? What about enrollment, research, fundraising, and academic program expansion?

Oh wait a minute... In order to do those types of things, you have to actually understand UNIVERSITY-LEVEL education and hire competent senior officials.

  4. It is time for all concerned supporters, friends, alumni and students to come together to get this mad woman outta here.

Where are the authors of the Gainous petition? They need to crank another one out.

    I'm ready to sign yesterday.
