  1. Good to see that the faculty isn't letting the admin's strong arm tactics get to them.

  2. $105,000 isn't a lot of money, considering the fact that there are some big-payees at the university. In fact, $105,000 is small potatoes at a university of FAMU's size. I think Castell Bryant's bad behavior is much to blame for this little bit o' money.
    $105,000? yeah, right.

  3. endowments only pay out about 5% of the principal (sp) each year. Basically paying the interest.

    0.05 * $105,000 = $5,250
going to scholarships every year. We haven't been donating to the school worth a durn in many real respects. Baby steps. Reach this goal, then set a higher one.

  4. Faculty and staff are the wrong people to approach to build an endowment. With few exceptions, they are underpaid, and, even if they all tithed, the result would not be much.

Administrators typically make two or more times what faculty make. Are administrators contributing heartily to the endowment fund?

But even that would not be enough.

Endowments come from alumni who, thanks to FAMU, have succeeded in the world.

Alumni, step forward. Donate to the endowment fund. Alumni who have made it big, donate big.
